Getting back into the swing

After letting this blog just sit here alone for months (!!!), I’m finally returning. I’ve heard all the social media seminars & lectures that insist on your provision of regular helpings of blog-food, but like many of us I can be easily lured away to other pursuits, which results in my neglecting to blog…surprising, since I usually find my own prose fascinating! The notion that I am a legend-in-my-own-mind appeals, but perhaps only to a certain point. It will be intriguing to see if I keep up with it this time and am willing to maintain my own integrity…as the coach I typically hold my clients’ feet to the fire re: keeping their agreements – so who holds the coach’s feet to the fire?! We’ll see…

Dreamy August musings

Well, it’s somewhat of a challenge, keeping track of these postings in the summer, isn’t it? I can’t quite figure out how it got to be half-way through the month already…time is such a puzzling river to me! My oldest niece just had her 35th birthday last week – that’s daunting to me! and my youngest niece graduated college a few months back…her older brother is being married in October, which I’m very pleased about, but I still can’t quite fathom it! The “other two” have families, too; all five of them are doing well, and we expect to have a mini-reunion at John’s wedding next month, which truly fills my heart with pride for each of them…but I still think I’m “young” (HA! as my Mom would have said) – mind-boggling! Age 60 sounds a good bit older than age 59 these days…and so it goes, to quote Billy Pilgrim – all you Kurt Vonnegut fans will get that reference – the rest of you are free to attribute it to my brillance!

Any thoughts on this crazy thing called getting older? Let me hear from you!

More sultry July-ness

So on it goes…the t.v. weather-types seem to be reveling in the heatwaves, while most of the rest of us are limp noodles! I continue to be grateful for my AC – as I edge ever nearer to age 60 (!!!), I realize how my mom must have felt, on the ghastly hot days, especially when dear old Dad refused to use the car AC…how she suffered! and there was no AC in our house – he finally bought the first color t.v. a year after she died!!!! but I digress…tonite on my way home from West Cape May I decided to drive to my favorite sunset-watching spot, just a few blocks from my house, to check it out…such gorgeous colors!!! Occasionally I forget to take the time to appreciate the wonderful place where I live…it’s certainly worth remembering!

Sultry July ramblings

Despite the AC, my brain still seems to wander…I am definitely made for comfort (not heat or speed!). So far there have been 4 heat waves this year, which is out-doing the pace of previous years; on this AM’s news show they were asking people to vote their preference (steamy heat or frigid snow), and many were voting for the snow, which seemed so incredible, but it’s important to consider that context is the key here – if the poll were taken in mid-February, especially this year, I think the heat would have won! So we soldier on, as my step-mom would have said! In the meantime I’m catching up with friends, baking for this Sat.’s Whale Day festival, and watching my favorite Phiullies melt on the field – hang in there, guys!

Friday thoughts

Drifting around the internet & Facebook this after, I found that Sarah MacLachlan was streaming a live concert from Starbuck’s in Seattle…what a haunting voice! People were logging on from all over the world, almost 16,000 of us, from countries in Europe, South America, the U.S…..it gives me hope, that if the world has the ability to harnass our collective energies to “be” with Sarah, and with each other, that perhaps anything is possible – it brings tears to my eyes…I’m such an old softie! Please, I urge you to meditate on this over the next few days…anything is possible!
